Treatment and Prevention of Muscle Injuries, Sprains and Strains
In addition to treating a muscle injury, ThermoActive™ heat therapy can be used for injury prevention. Heat therapy loosens tight muscles and tendons that are used for any type of activity. You can use ThermoActive™ in the office or while driving to help with back pain, prior to walking or doing work around the house, or to alleviate pain related to arthritis.
ThermoActive™ can also be used by athletes who need to warm-up prior to competition or practice. It can be used to loosen up the shoulder prior to throwing; hamstrings, groin, and calves prior to running; knee prior to high impact; and the back prior to golfing or other swinging motions.
For best results, prior to exercising, apply the heated gel pack support to the muscle for 10 minutes. This will loosen up the muscle and the surrounding area. Find out more information on how heat therapy works.
After a muscle injury, or after a sprain or a strain, a cold therapy protocol known as R.I.C.E is often recommended — Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. ThermoActive™ is the key component to the "I" and the "C" in R.I.C.E therapy. See When is Cold Therapy Appropriate for more information on the R.I.C.E.
ThermoActive™ cold and hot therapy can be used for the following issues. However as with any pain treatment, you should consult a healthcare professional for a pain management program that best suits your needs.
