Treating Patient Injuries with ThermoActive™ Hot and Cold Compression Therapy
ThermoActive™ cold and hot therapy can be used for patients suffering from acute and chronic injuries as well as those under going post surgery treatment.
Treating Patients with Acute Injuries
For patients suffering from acute injuries, R.I.C.E is the protocol — Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. ThermoActive™ is the key component to the "I" and the "C" in R.I.C.E therapy.
Treating Patients with Chronic Pain
Patients suffering from chronic pain can use ThermoActive™ heat therapy. Heat therapy loosens tight muscles and tendons that are used for any type of activity. Patients can use ThermoActive in the office or while driving to help with back pain, or prior to walking or doing work around the house, or to alleviate pain related to arthritis.
Post Surgery Treatment for Patients
Treatment for post surgery patients typically includes cold therapy immediately after surgery to reduce swelling. It is recommended that patients keep the support on the area for 20 minutes then remove it for 20 minutes. This should be done a few times a day. Patients should be informed that more than 20 minutes of cold therapy is liable to cause tissue damage.
When cold therapy is combined with the compression that ThermoActive™ provides, the result is more effective. This is especially true because the support proves easier to keep in place as opposed to a conventional gel pack that needs re-adjusting when a patient’s mobility might be limited.
It is suggested that the patient has an extra ThermoActive™ gel pack on hand so that one can be kept in the freezer while the other is applying treatment to the affected area. This will ensure an ideal uninterrupted treatment regimen.
